Pregnancy Fashion

Maternity wear or pregnancy style does not have to mean stretch trousers and baggy tops.

Today you can remain fashionable as well as comfortable right up to the time when your baby is due.

A changing shape of bigger breasts and increased waistline can still be sexy and it is much more flattering to show off your belly rather than try to hide it!

Current maternity clothes are fitted and tailored to let you show off your new pregnancy shape.

Many women don't bother shopping for a new materntiy wardrobe as it seems a waste of money for only nine months, however common-sense shopping can help you buy clothes to wear throughout your pregnancy and still use them again once your baby is born.

Stylish free-flowing skirts and dresses will fit your growing belly nicely and still be wearable later. Oversize cardigans and tunics, perhaps with a wide belt under the belly, keep you fashionable and comfortable.

Great outfits can consist of basic black trousers, a few pairs of stretchy denim jeans, coloured tops and perhaps a little black dress. These items can then be livened up with bold accessories. Anything that accentuates the shoulders and bust line are very flattering such as a scarf, poncho or shawl. Choose loose styles and try halter-neck styles as your upper body will not change too much apart from the size of your baby bump!

Today denim designers offer maternity versions of their most popular jeans and you can wear them low-slung, choosing funky motifs and details with differing washes and looks.

If you are a working mum-to-be you can find modern maternity suits which can be worn both day and night. You can dress them down with a t-shirt for a more casual day or add a smart blouse for an evening out. Maternity suits may be more of an investment so choose the size wisely and ensure you leave some room to grow.

When your bust begins to increase in size choose a bra with good support rather than one with metallic wiring underneath. A sports bra will provide good support and be comfortable at the same time. A sports bra will also allow more room and support while you grow.

Most shops and online stores base their maternity ranges on your size before you became pregnant so bear this in mind before purchasing.
